Juvenile rockfish habitat is more than macro-scale structure, but also includes micro-scale biotic and
abiotic structure. I am interested in microhabitat selection by juvenile rockfish off the Oregon coast. In particular my interests are centered on Young of the Year (YOY) shelf and slope species, their habitat requirements and associations. It is the goal of my research to identify, characterize, and define biotic and abiotic components and relationships important in the growth and survival for demersal YOY Sebastes spp as it relates to the natural oceanic environment.

                                                                                     Objective 1
metridiumAnalysis of video from benthic transect surveys to identify potential relationships between Young of the Year rockfish and their use of structural and biotic substrate.

Objective 2
Experimental comparisons  in a laboratory setting. Control habitats will be compared with treatment
habitats. For each comparison multiple replicates will be performed.
