The Marine Fisheries Genetics Lab, lead by
Dr. Michael Banks, includes students, a visiting
scientist,
research assistants, and
post-doctoral researchers engaged in research
on population genetics, speciation, and the
genetic basis of life history traits.

Our current research focuses on the genetic
basis of run timing and homing in
anadromous Pacific salmonids, mate
recognition and speciation in rockfishes
(genus Sebastes), and population genetics
of salmonids and rockfishes.

Our other research interests include
freshwater salmonids, Pacific oysters,
coelacanths, surfperches, and whatever
else catches our eye.
