The Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station works with the seafood industry from pre-harvest through processing, supporting many critical aspects of their work. The researchers at the Seafood Research and Education Center (SREC) in Astoria are responsible for COMES' work on post-harvest issues, including sensory testing, seafood handling and processing safety, and reducing seafood processing waste through innovative use of nutritional compounds. Through hands-on workshops, trainings, and conferences, as well as participation in professional organizations supporting industry, our faculty are well-situated to help address concerns when needed.
