The Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station works with the seafood industry from pre-harvest through processing, supporting many critical aspects of their work.  The researchers at the Seafood Research and Education Center (SREC) in Astoria are responsible for COMES' work on post-harvest issues, including sensory testing, seafood handling and processing safety, and reducing seafood processing waste through innovative use of nutritional compounds.  Faculty from the SREC are also involved with the following professional organziations, all of which support seafood processors:
