Research Areas: Population dynamics, nearshore fisheries oceanography, marine protected areas, adaptive management, ecological forecasting, climate change effects on fisheries, ecological statistics

Will’s research links mathematical models and empirical data to detect patterns of change in noisy data and make predictions that inform fisheries management and conservation. Currently, his major research areas are the dynamics of kelp forest fish species inside marine protected areas in Oregon and California, the effects of seasonal hypoxia on the management of finfish and crab fisheries in Oregon, and the influence of environmental variability on predator-prey interactions and population dynamics of eastern oysters in Florida.
