We Need Your Help with our Scientific Research
We want to understand the movements, behaviors and distributions of sharks along our coast. If you see a shark, catch a shark or find a stranded shark, please report any information, pictures or comments on our website. Please also contact us if you are willing to take samples.
Sharks in the Pacific Northwest?
Pacific Northwest waters are home to more than a dozen species of shark. No need to fear - they come in all shapes and sizes. and each plays an important role in making sure the PNW's ocean ecosystems are healthy. We are still learning more about why they come here and what they are doing. To follow along or even participate, you can visit our website and follow us on social media.
Who are We?
We are a group of scientific researchers at Oregon State University's Big Fish Lab. By collaborating with local communities, fishing industries, institutions, and organizations, we want to learn more about ecosystems in the Northeast Pacific, specifically by studying the sharks that are in them. We enjoy participating in discussions about the species we study, so please feel free to contact us with any queries or opportunities for eduction and outreach events.
