The Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station is devoted to conducting scientific research that benefits our partners. Our Newport faculty and research staff focus on fisheries and pre-harvest topics, while our Astoria faculty focus on post-harvest related seafood issues. Part of our work involves supporting fishers and seafood processors by addressing issues of concern. Some of the ways in which COMES faculty learn about and address these concerns include regularly attending meetings for all of the Seafood Commodity Commissions, maintaining an active presence in service organizations supporting fisheries and seafood, and by providing webinars, workshops, and other educational opportunities for our industry partners.
